I am considering putting on dual 5" stacks on my 2003 Cummins but am a little concerned about getting soot on my 5th wheel. So, are any of you guys & gals running stacks on your tow rigs and if so, do you get soot all over your trailer? Thanks alot........HUMP
We have 15 OTR trucks all with stacks and many of them pull tall trailers and/or tall loads. I'm sorry to say yes, they smoke out the trailer. Mitre cuts are pretty bad, but curved out isn't as bad. Every heard of a "smoke tarp?" It's what we have to use to try and protect the front of our loads from smoke.
it will get black spots on it..... if you want it to stay clean you need regular exhuast with a turn down on it to keep most of it off a trailer....
I've seen guys on TDR that have both. They have stacks in the bed and a normal 4" single dumped at the rear axle. They use one of those manual cut-out valves under the truck and switch it back and forth depending on if there towing.
That or just turn off your box if you don't have injectors or anything. Shouldn't smoke it out at stock power.
Is it an optical illusion, or are you going to be extremely tight on stack-to-5th-wheel cap clearance? What's going to happen on turns? Rusty
