thats what I thought when I read it but it said he has never even had the heads off. I guess that maintenance actually pays off!!
he would have never used all the paper fitlers like they caimed at 15k when hes only cleaning his k@n every 50 at a minimum . those giant late 90's chevy filters are a GREAT design, lots of free flowing, and do not clog up very easil. they have lots of surface area. my dads 98 k1500 thats farm driven with 250k on it only gets it replaced at 70k or so when it becomes to the point that light does not come through it well. in reality he would have only spent $600 on paper fitlers if he changed them at 50k at $30 each
we have close to 500,000 on our stock 96 ram with no motor work and we didnt use a k&n filter. just regular maintenance.
my last co. truck I had when I worked for some one it was a 95 GMC 2wd dually I put 315,000+ on it. 2 tranny's, rebuilt rear end once, 2 A/C comp., 3 water pumps, & it was a 454ci.
My buddys grandpa has a Chevy 454 company truck that had 450k on it last I talked to him about 3 years ago.
There's an old man here that has a million mile truck... a 1974 chevy 3/4 ton. One owner. His customers have probably put in at least a combined million in at his place--he owns a skate rink. Been there as long as I can remember, still has the wood floors. Neat place. Neat old man. Got himself a new paint job for the first time on that old truck this year.
