I have been reading alot about different tuners on here, and I was wondering what you guys thought about banks tuners. I have one, and was just wondering how it rates compaired to the other tuners on the market. I haven't had any problems with mine, just currious.

Also, I was thinking of swithing all my fliuds to Amsoil, waht are your thoughts on that, good idea or bad idea?

Thanks for your input guys. burnout

    Banks.

Banks basically sucks for the most part. Thats there hardparts, electronics, and company averaged together IMHO.

Their brake and exhaust, intercooler, not bad stuff. Their electronics are nearly junk. They just don't put out the power like they like to advertise. They advertise they are the best in the business and no one knows what they know. They are the best because they have the fastest diesel pickup. They even advertise that the little Dakota is Banks throughout, guess again. Most of the parts are other companies.

Amsoil. I think that is a great idea, doing your whole drivetrain will free up a couple of horsepower, help you gain a mile or two per gallon on the highway, keep your drivetrain cooler, much extended drain intervals, and longer component life.

Banks biggest problem is that he is stubborn! He is about airflow, diesel engines like fuel and make big power from adding fuel. Big horsepower guys increase airflow to add more fuel. Banks makes most of his horsepower with airflow. That is my thoughts on why banks stuff feels so tame. I can sale a guy a 3k banks kit or a $500 tuner and make the same hp. It can be frustrating to some customers. Banks stuff is great quality/easy installation but not good for big horsepower.

yeah i drove an 03 cummins stick shift that had the full on banks system w/ the 6-gun tuner thing... my 05 w/ the edge and a muffler is way the crap faster then that thing was. and i spent much less on mine... all of my performance stuff together has cost me about 1000 bucks whereas just a banks intercooler is like 1000 bucks haha.

What year do you have? Fill out your signature in the user cp area so everyone knows what you are running with.

Banks makes SOME decent items, however they are pricey and good luck with customer service. For the 3rd gen trucks I have had a lot of good luck with their Intercooler kits. Other than that, I usually veer customers in other directions depending on how they plan to use the truck. There are alot of other, most cost effective solutions out there that Banks.

As for Amsoil, awesome stuff. I use it in my 2006 race truck, and love the stuff. Cooler temps, less wear, plus less downtime. 15K oil change intervals if you use the truck, 25K if you just commute and putz around. Want the ultimate? Add a bypass filter for a major increase in oil life and engine cleanliness!

I have had the Banks Trans Command and Big Hoss Tuner on my last truck which was a Ford with the 7.3. Now I'm running the Edge Juice/Attitude on my Cummins. The Banks wasn't a bad product but the Edge product has alot more thought put into it. More horsepower at the rear wheels.

but is the debate so much about quality as it is quantity??? sure you can get a ton of hp out of any old program, but is it nessesarilly the best for it... i personally do not have a program on my truck, but i would rather have safer power than more power... like i tell all of my friends, if you think you need a progam, go pull 15k around all day and then unhook, you will quickly realize how much power your truck really has... I towed alot with my 2003 3500 drw. I had the Banks on for about 2 weeks. The TST stayed. Banks is wayt conservative with fueling, and fuel is where you get p. Air does not give any power increases. It just allowes you to burn more fuel at the correct ratio and get temps back down. If you want a Banks kit by al means, get one. Just know that for t the cost, you can get more hp and the same durability.
