I have an 05 2500 with Edge with attitude, Magnaflow 5" with no Cat and a Volant CAI. Recently I noticed my EGT are staying well above 1000 deg driving around, and I cant even really accel or pull a hill with out going over 1400. It doesnt matter what level I run it at really. I purchased a new filter element, No diff.

I do notice that when I turn off the A/C it drops quite a bit. Down in the 700 range cruising, but will still pull over 1400 up a hill.

Other than the motor mods listed, there is nothing different on the truck. OEM wheels and tires, ect.

That is really weird with the A/C and all. Is the truck smoking more? Running in any way different?

If it drops that much with the A/C off I say you have an electrical issue and the A/C's electrical is interfering with the pyro's function. How that could happen? I don't know. What you need to find out is if it is actually getting that hot.

I have noticed that the boneheads at the carwash hit the AC condenser with the high pressure washer and bent over a bunch of the fins. I cant imagine that its enough to make that much of a diff though.

I dont have any driving difference at all until the 1400 mark where the alarm goes off and it de-fuels. No more smoke, no noise, runs strong! Wierd.

Maybe I need to invest in a regular pyro guage to check it?

I think that you might be having an instrumentation problem. On my way towing a trailer up to Utah last winter egts suddenly jumped up to well over 1000 degrees from like 800ish. Although with mine, if i stopped for fuel and let it sit for 5-10 mins it would go back down to normal... then jump back up after a few minutes of driving. I ended up just turning the chip off (position '0') but the egt still read way above 1000. That is when i figured it was the pyrometer because im pretty sure the egt would not climb that high with no extra fueling. All that to say I have the same truck and same chip as you and the same thing happened to me but my hunch was and instrumentation problem... not actual egt increase.

by the way, after that trip to utah and back i have never had that happen to me again... even towing a trailer from CA to TX

Sounds like the dreded '05 Plastic ended intercooler. The crimps come loose, and you loose boost (loke 10-15 psi vs 25-30 psi), causing high EGT temps. I had the dealer replace mine, then later, I just upgraded to the Banks Technicooler.

It was the connectors on the Edge. False readings. Runs like a champ....
