Are any of the larger cars ie Deville, Lincoln, used for towing and what are the requirements.. now no frame ..they sell the hitch?
Not so much anymore, but they used to be. Caprices, crown vic's and other fullsizes up till the mid 90's were conservatively rated at 5K pounds. Full frames, big brakes, they were basically the same drivetrains as 1/2 ton pickups with crapier gearing. Hell, in the 70's you could get a beefier drivetrain in a fullsize car than you could in a 1/2 ton pickup.
saw a corvette hauling a Harley Davison behind it the other my wife was laughting saying why didnt they just get a truckrotfl
We used to have like a late 70's ford ltd with a goose neck hitch inside the trunk in the area. I haven't seen it for several years. I wish I could have goten some pictures of it.
Towing With a Car If you want a car to tow with then go find an old 72,73 Lincoln Or Mercury that had the 460-4 barrel and automatic. They are good trailer pullers. You could rebuild one for about $15.000 to $20.000 and that's cheaper than a used truck.opcorn:
