A little confused here I got a 3 car with gvwr of 18500 and my trucks gvw is 17500 my truck weighs 10500 and the trailer 6000 .so thats 16000 combined weight so can i load to my max gwv of both so a load of 20,000 . also if anyone has a 3 car to pick there brain just got the trailer to start my own transport business to transport cars and truck for my work .
if your truck gross combined rating is 17500 then that my friend is your "factory not to exceed weight" of both truck and trailer hooked up so it looks like you got 1500 pound left over for cargo or a chevette rotfl
What is the GCVWR for your truck? Take that # and subtract the truck and trailer weight, and that is what you can load up to. Best thing to do is fill your tanks and load the truck with the stuff you normally carry, then hitch up and have the combo weighed. Then use the above mentioned formula to figure out cargo load amount and you will be in the safe zone waytogo
It does sound like you've reached your limit for that particular truck without putting anything on the trailer:doah:
if truck and trailer weigh 16k and ford says the 550 will haul 25k then that is 9k left over... thats 3k each car and will do what most car lots are wanting you to do...
Good point. We need to know what the vehicle is. GVWR is the max the truck can weigh. this includes the king pin. so a 10k truck that has a 17k GVWR can haul 7k in cargo, people, trailer tongue weight. the number you are looking for is the GCWR this is the weight of trailer and tow vehicle. on a 550 it is 33,000 with the 4.88 gears. 33k - 10k in truck weight you have 23k left over in trailer weight, load, etc.waytogo
also dont know if anybody noticed before he's listed as a 3/4 ton hauler. did you get a newer heavier duty truck?
