I was aware of an oil leak when I bought my truck , and I will be damned if it wasn't what I thought it was . The cooler/filter adapter leaks at the block . Seems easy , anything I should know about ? Part numbers or anything ?

just be real careful when removing the lines from the adapter, they like to bend/break.

Do I absolutely have to remove them , can't let them hang with the adapter ? Should I get two new adapters beforehand for the metal lines to go to ?

You should be able to just let it hang. IIRC, there are 3 o-rings on the filter adapter and bolt that like to go bad(at least on the 6.5 there is, i cant imagine a gasser being much different though). The o-rings cost about $5 for the set at a dealer, and take about 10 minutes to replace.

Was handed wrong parts , so it sits until tonight . Too hard to do without totally dropping the adapter since the o-ring was stuck to it . So I am getting new lines too since I had to remove mine , and I know they will leak now that they are off .

They could of at least reversed the IFS so the driveshaft wasn't in the gosh darn way

    Pauly,

I had the exact same thing happen to mine back in December. I was in Iraq still so I couldn't do anything about it. My wife took it to a local shop and they told her it was the rear main leaking and that it would be $700 to fix the damn thing. The previous owners tried to fix the leak by slathering orange RTV all over the adaptor. It took me longer to clean up there mess than anything else when I fixed it. :D
