I pulled into a parking lot and didn't realize that my black plastic air dam on the front of my 05 SE Ram had made contact with a higher grass or sod area beyond the concrete wheel stop on the parking lot. When I backed up, I heard a "pop" and went out to take a look. The air dam didn't want to slide backwards off the sod it was pushed into and it grabbed the ground/sod and got pulled back. It didn't completely get pulled-off my bumper, but it did pop some of the screws in the bumper slots/holes where the plastic dam screws in. I was able to "bop the dam back up into position under the bumper with my fist, and it feels fairly tight, but it's got cracks and broken-out spots where it screws into the bumper.

Here's my question. Can I get this black plastic air dam for a 2500 Se Quad cab fairly cheap by avoiding going to Dodge for it? Does anyone off hand know some good prices and sources for new, factory dams for an 05?

    Air Dam

I've done the same thing the last two winters on snow piles. On eBay there is a seller called Persing auto parts. I bought one from them both times. It was $26 plus $25 shipping, total $51 both times. This time I threw all the old fasteners away and bolted it on with stainless steel hardware. I have vowed not to do it again this winter.rotfl

They have an all new Dodge catalog coming out. If you can wait 10 days for their catalog they will likely have what you are looking for, and be cheaper but still be factory quality.

I'd leave it off. Or take it the rest of the way off and not spend the money for a new one. We ripped ours off in some mud, and we think not having it makes the truck look meaner.

    Unless you have a 2wd.

    Front Air Dam

There actually is a very good reason why it is on there. I just can't think of it right now. Obviously it has to do with air flow and I believe it is even more necessary with an A/C condenser on the truck. I'm sure it is not just for looks.

Look for a company called Fanns they might have it in stock on ebay and I do think it also might effect air flow to the brakes for better cooling or thats what a lot of them do.

actually the air dam has a couple good reasons for being there. It create low pressure under the engine bay so air flow goes through the front rad/condensor/intercooler/AT cooler and on out the bottom of the engine bay. Helps keep the Cummins cool when towing at speed and sucks out excessive engine bay heat. Without it hot air can "pack up" under the hood.
