the 1 thing my 05 doesnt have that my 01 did

i miss the whine of the turbo, my 05 whines a lil but my 01 was alot louder, i was hoping to get that sound back when i installed my airraid intake with the stock baffle removed but nope i know they moved the turbo to make it quieter is that all they did and is ther a way of getting that whine on a 05?

 

Take your silencer ring out.

Thats not the only thing, I love the way the 24v's sound when you fire them up and idle, sounds like a Cummins. Common rails sound quiet, and kinda funny to me.:stir:

Yeah, an aftermarket turbo will make a little more noise than a stocker.

 

The sound out the exhaust sounds pretty close to the same, it's the sound of the motor that I like on the 24v's.

There was talk a long time ago about trying to edit out the multi stage injection at idle that makes them so quiet.

 

oh belive me i would love stacks but it wouldnt be reasonable for me to get them i use my bed too much and i plan on getting a slide in camper one of theese days besides that my exhaust is less than 6 months old i did have a straight pipe but barney phife here said it was too loud ugh 30 years old and still putting up with small town cops b.s. as i said in my introduction ive never hauled ass around town in my truck and made a nuisence outta myself..there are lots of louder vehicles around here dont know what his deal is but its cops like that, that give em all a bad name. i know they are not all like that i have a number of buds that are cops this guy is just a **** i guess oh well what comes around goes around....damn got off subject there a bit with my rant

 

I put the AEM intake on my 05 and it whines louder than my friends 02. maybe intakes differ from eachother cuz you can hear my turbo over the exhaust! waytogo

 

thats what im talkin about hearing the whine over the exhaust....maybe i just got the wrong intake, i went the most bang for the buck route so to speak and air raids was a lil cheaper than the others i had looked at, if i ever come up with a extra 300 bucks ill have to check out another system, until then i gots what i gots

 

i guess so, i figured as long as the silencers out, you would get the whinin, but i guess not! very interesting...

 

it whines some but not like the 01 did withthe straight pipe, this one sounded more like a deep throaty big block with the straight pipe, completley different sound

 

very interesting...maybe u should consider selling your air raid, and gettin an AEM! ha! one question for ya, i take it your truck has a muffler? how does it sound on the highway? mine is so annoying on the high way until i get to about 80. its stright pipe by the way...

 

mine was a straight pipe....it ws very load i gotta say and it wasnt all the way out the rear either just a 36" diesel tip from the local international dealer i liked it but honestly it wsa too loud to have a lil kid in the truck i couldnt hear my 3 1/2 yr old in the back seat ......the new system is nice when i first got it it was like almost like being deaf it was so quiet in comparison its broken in now and sound nice when i get on it and its not bad at all on the interstate im satisfied wiht it and recomend it. theres no cat on it. i shoulda got the 5" stainless though lol that thing looked monstrous but it was a cpl hundred more. got a great deal on my sytem cant remeber exact price but it was 300 ish installed all welded.

 

wow! 300 bucks is damn cheap for an exhaust system! i may have to look into it, im tired of having a headache when i drive the truck! but the great thing when the windows are down i never get a headache! so i dont know. im going to atleast get a muffler. cuz its already got 4 inch exhaut.

well good. around here i bet that same exhaust would be bout 5-600 installed.

 

From the inside of the cab, our 2003 is much louder, I think it's due to the intake. But, when the trucks drive by, I can hear the turbo on the 2000 much more, probably because of the straight pipe.

 

my turbo is louder than any 00-02 cummins turbo. i have heard them all with and without intakes, and mine just sings and sings! its so beautiful!

 

Mine wines pretty Loud I just have a drop in Airaid filter and A 5" t/q tube I also cut a 4" hole cut in frount of my Factory air box.my ring is gone also. and stright pipe with the resanatior is still in.

 

Did the same MOD to mine. Whines pretty good I think. The neighbors love it. They really do! Mine is also straight piped without the resonator, my 05 didn't come with one.opcorn:
