Does anybody use an oil filter bypass system, such as an FS2500? Im a little afraid of using something that deals with one of the most important things on my truck...

Ditto. I feel the same way. I just had a long talk with the local amsoil dealer and she was saying that the benefits are huge.

Bypass filters are awesome. Amsoil's dual filter bypass kits allow you to relocate the factory full flow and a bypass filter to the same location. I have used this kit on my personal 93, 02 and 03. I am using the BMK11 single bypass on my 06 race truck.

Please, be more specific with your questions. I would love to answer any and all questions about them.

well it said that you only have to change your oil ever 20k-30k miles... after that much heating up and cooling down wouldnt it still break-down the oil just as fast?

Did you know that there is a thread running on this subject already? I was searching through some of the back pages and stumbled on it. Go back 5 or 6 pages.

The Bypass filter simply removes more of the impurities from the oil allowing it to remain in service longer. When using synthetic, even more so. For Example, with Amsoil 15W40 and no bypass our recommended oil changes are every 15k miles. With bypass filtration I reccomend using oil analysis to verify oil condition and use that oil until it is no longer fit for use. Here is some cool reading on it - 409k Mile Oil Change.

I have done the fs2500 bypass on my Western Star. I just sent the 5th oil analysis off to Detroit. I currently have 54k on the oil. I have a neighbor talked into adding one to his Star also & I will now be installing one on my D'max. I have it figured it out that in the big truck it will pay for its self in 60k miles. in the D'max it will take about 90k miles to pay for its self.

Just an FYI - The Amsoil BMK11 is about half the cost of the FS2500. Also, the Amsoil BMK11 includes all the hoses and fittings needed for install.

I have no stock in any bypass filter, but I'm willing to bet the bank there are 3 times more filters like the fs 2500 or the gulf coast on big trucks than the amsoil. if they are good enough for the trucking industry then it's good enough for a little pick up truck. just my thoughts on it. the amsoil probably is just fine for the average joe shmoe but I'm not taking chances with my company trucks. Diesel Nut I am "NOT" trying to down your product I am just stating my opinion.

No offense taken, just throwing the info out.

For most over the road rigs we use the Dual Guard, which mounts 2 bypass filters together to trap more contaminates on large capacity motors.

Not that I am aware of. Hose and fittings are supplied by the installer I believe.

    Fs-2500

I run the FS-2500 and so far it is working great. Yes, it does come with all the fittings and hoses. I chose to upgrade to the steel braided hoses.burnout

Whichever direction you choose to go with a bypass (Amsoil, FS, Frantz, Oil Guard), you are going to do your motor alot of good. Thats the big thing here is that they do work and work well. Anyone here running the Frantz setup?
