Ok, i have a problem. I can not make up my mind on whether or not to sell my 91 dodge d250 2wd cummins. I am 16, and i had origionally bought the truck to haul my 4 wheeling truck, which is the 1st truck i have ever built. I can not afford to register both trucks, so this would mean that i would only be able to drive the dodge on the street. My dodge is a 2wd, Which absoloutely sucks, and has 339,000 miles. My chevy has a rebuilt 350, 9" of lift, 38" thornbirds, 3/4 ton axles and a whole lot more. I love this truck, and really want it as my first truck, but i can not afford to register both trucks. What would you do? Sell the dodge, and use the chevy as my DD/play truck, or keep the dodge, and only get to use the chevy when i can borrow a trailer, because i can not afford a trailer now? I only bought the dodge for 2k, and i have offers for 3k on it.
id say keep em both and borrow a trailer, then save up as ya go and register the other one when ya can
I say let the dodge go. while it may be more practical as a DD I know the feelings one can have for his 1st truck. You will really regret selling your Chevy (ask me how I know). plus if you can get a grand or more out of the dodge then put that towards a newer Towrig with less miles and 4wd (2wd towrigs are worthless IMO)
I think you asked the same exact question 3 months ago on Cumminsforum.com..... You still never made a decision? Back then, you were concerned about driving a 2wd in winter weather. By now, it doesn't hardly matter as summer is around the corner. March is just about here along with warmer weather anyway.
Yes, i am thinking along the lines of carguy and brisk. Im going to sell it, and make about a grand profit on it, then im going to drive my chevy for a few years and save up for a 2nd gen 12 valve 4x4.
the way it sounds your chevy is set up, your probly going to spend your profit in gas money:doah: but hey what ever ya wanna do i think the lifted truck is cooler myself as well...... just not as efficient in the mpg area
Ok, well i guess i should have mentioned that when i work i drive my boss's truck, and he pays for the fuel, so im going to sell this one, and save for a few years so i can buy something newer with 4x4.
well, i have received the offer that i am looking to get, but i told the guy that id call him back, because i just couldnt bring my self to sell this truck. i looked for one like it, only 4x4 for about a year, then i found this one for cheap, so i bought it. Its in nice shape, and has the getrag and 3.54 rear end. i think i will just end up using it as my DD/work truck, and using the chevy for play, and save up and register it when i can. How well should i expect this truck to tow, it has some pump mods and a strait pipe, as well as the manual and 3.54s. Will it have the power to pull around a john deere tractor weighing in at 11,000 lbs? I have timbrens in it for towing.
you probably wont win any races pulling 11k but it will do better than any gas truck out there and you will burn less fuel.
