i get everything at cost. a kit could have been made, but i didnt have all the cash at one. i just wanted 4 inch through the "T" then 5 inch elbows. my stock turbo would hurt from full 5 inch setup. Grant
Anybody have any input on drone/loudness in the cab with 5" straight cut stacks (no muffler) on a single turbo 12V? Id really like to get stacks for my truck, and love the sound the 12Vs have when they are straight piped, but I dont want to yell too loud going down the highway when Im talking to passengers. Thanks for any input.
You may get a bit of drone, but I don't know how bad it would be. Lucky thing, with a crew cab ford you have alot of cab to absord the sound. I would say dynamat is a great idea, stacks or not, and if you have cloth seats expect that to help a bit too.
Yep, I have dynamat all over my trans tunnel. Doing the whole crew cab would probably cost more than installing the stacks. Haha, but yea that is a good idea. Thanks.
Don't need to do the cab, just the back of the cab and maybe a foot or so of the roof, just to kind of insulate the sound. I really don't think it would be to bad. Here's what I do know - The F550 in Diesel Power this month has stacks with his Cummins, and with twins and a muffler it is really quiet in the cab, even pulling heavy loads. That truck is an extended cab.
The twins actually knock down the sound quite a bit. My 06 is straight piped and I ahve a little drone, but not much with stacks.
it might sound stupid, but if you go in and talk to owners of car audio shops they might give you a really good deal... (might have to put the shops logo on your truck)
