I'm needing a daily driver, with capacity for many kids but also to be used to pull different size trailers and tractors that I will be selling. I don't want to own different vehicles for different tasks. So here is my question I looked on ebay motors and found many Excursions with the 6.0 diesel . Is there so many on there due to a reason? Would this be the vehicle to fit my need. If not what do you suggest. I do perfer a diesel. Thanks to any one to help me!!!!!!

I think it's the perfect diesel for you then. Tons of room and good towing capacity.

Just avoid 2003's, as it was the first year of the 6.0 and was the most problematic. Later models did fairly well. 6L Internationals are a little bit of a gamble, some people don't have any problems with them and some have a bunch. But, you are much more likely to not have any issues and the people I know that own them have had good luck.

See many people were talking about how one of the big three need to make a diesel SUV with good towing. I think the Excursion is the perfect vehicle and maybe ford or someone should make another one just like it.

i ran the piss out of them in kuwait/iraq as my security vehicle... had no problem except the a/c would not hold up under those temp conditions other than that that no prob..... beware, when the fuel guage is on full it stays there for awhile, but once it starts headin towards "E" it doesnt take long ;)

i have a friend thats got one with the 7.3 and he loves it no problems what so ever just put bigger bfg allterrains on it.....if you go with the 6.0 get the last 1-2 years made.....me personally i would by a clean 7.3 with decent miles and change the exhaust and intake and be done......

They are good just stay away from the 2003 models. They have turbo and head gasket issues.

You DON'T want head gasket problems with an Excursion though. I don't know how they would go about getting the cab off as that body is all one piece IIRC.
