well i stopped by the good ol' dodge dealership today and test drove a new '07 QC 3500 dually 6 speed w/ the 6.7L cummins in it and had the factory exhaust brake standard now!! the new power of the motor is nice compared to the 5.9L. but i noticed if i tried shifting somewhat quick it killed power for like half a second or so after shifting before it would run up again to shift..... weird? but all in all it was a very very very nice truck. i want one now.

    More info please!

Does it still sound like a Cummins? The 3rd gen 5.9L was bad enough being so quiet, but did the 6.7 get even quieter?

I drove one too...Its definetly quieter then the 5.9 and ALOT quieter then your 2nd gen. However it does have a deeper, more big rigish tone to it. But you can still tell that it is a diesel. And the Exhaust brake is sweet.

yeah bobby the new one is quiet but sounds deeper and more like a semi wi=hich is awesome.... the exhaust brake works good without a load so i can only imagine with a load how well it would work...needless to say dodge has my vote!!!!

Hmm, I'm torn then.... no awesome 24v idle (like they should sound!:D ) but it now sounds deeper.

Regardless, with the particulate filter I doubt we can modify the exhaust much anyway.

Im sure that the aftermarket is all over the Particulate filter. It should only be a matter of time till they come up with something.

Zippy, the truck you drove makes 305/610 with the manual. The 6speed Aisin automatic makes 350/650.

i am sure that the aftermarket companies will figure out how to design an exhaust that will incorporate the DPF. there is a demand out there (from all of us) for exhaust systems for the new trucks... meaning that there is money to be made. all the companies would be dumb to not make something... we just gotta wait:popcorn:

But, the problems lies in the DPF itself. If you have to go through the thing, then you are going to likely loose airflow, exhaust tone, and EGT reduction.

It's just like today's catalyctic converters, you can put headers in front of it, and a cat back exhaust behind it, but it still doesn't compare to the same setup with just a pipe put in place of the converter.

Hey there guys I'm new to the board but I will give you some personal input since I own a 6.7 CTD. The thing frickin hauls. I did some towing with it last weekend and it worked flawlessly. Granted we're wanting more power I really didn't find a place that I "needed" more power towing my 26' gooseneck with 2 4x4 buggy's on back. I live in washington and drove across the state and had a number of climbs. If I got just the right gear going into the climb I could keep 60 nearly all the way up. With my rig pulled up on the front deck of the gooseneck its nearly 12' off the ground so we're pushing a lot of air up there too. The exhuast brake is absolutely amazing and works perfectly with the tranny. I rarely ever needed to use much brake when stopping and the new 6sp is near perfect. I was able to hold 70 mph on any of the flats and my mpg average was 8 on the way there and 8.5 on the way back. I have continually noticed a increase in milage since I have only had it 2 weeks but I have already logged 2000 miles on it so ar

I dont' know if any of your have looked closely at the exhuast yet but its already a 4.5" from what I can tell (I haven't measured yet) downpipe and 4" all the way back. I will agree with what others have said on this thread so far about going around the DPF and am pretty sure that one of the programmers out there will bypass the sensors in the exhaust so we can tune them. I don't know how this will work for warrentee sake but we'll have to see. For referrance sake the Aisen tranny is in the CC and Dodge makes the 6sp for the other trucks.

being they are not a jake but a exhaust brake they are not loud. just a whooosh. A true jake works on the engine valves this just plugs up the exhaust with a butterfly valve. but the do work good. you won't get a ticket. nobody will even know its on.

Very quiet. I barely can hear it. You know its there but my exhaust on my old truck was louder just from the turbo than the new exhaust brake on the Cummins.

I just bought a 6.7 cab chasis. The exaust brake is quiet so is the whole truck

Heres somthing to look at those of you who have a 6.7, check out your intake, in the hard plastic molded piece their is some sort of air silencer thing, just undo the clamp where the rubber hose meets the plastic thing, as soon as you take the hose off you'll see it, it just slides out.
I took mine out it seems like you can hear the turbo a little more. these dont have a silencer ring

I just got my dealer packet from edge and their working on a juice with attitude for the 6.7 shouldn't be long

If you don't mind me asking, what's the ballpark price for the 5500 Chassis Cab?
