What's up with these engines not coming with ALL accessories? It's like they expect you to already have an engine.
$650 for a clutch and flywheel? And the price they quote on there is for a 1996 Cummins, not even a new one. I'd rather buy a crate CTD and attempt to do the swap myself. Unless I hit the lottery. Damn I wish they made Chevys with Cummins.
$650 for a clutch? rotfl Maybe if you run a bone stock motor that will hold up. But what would be the fun in owning a stock truck, let alone a stock Cummins. The guys at FordCummins are the ones Im gettin the conversion kit this summer for my pickup.
I don't doubt you'd need an upgraded clutch, but 650 seems like quite a bit. Is there a way to find out what a conversion kit costs if you source your own engine and do your own labor? Their website isn't very detailed.
Someone has needed to do this for a long long time. I did a 12 valve into a 75 CCab in 2002 and there was nothing as far as do's and dont's. Had to do it the hard way but it was fun waytogo .
How about www.dodgecummins.com? That would be sweet.....oh wait....Dodges come factory with a Cummins. imp: Just had to guys. rotfl :doah:
No thankyou. I like my Duramax just fine so no need to jump on the "Cummins is best" band wagon. :stir: opcorn: Someday I would like to drive a cummins rig (new and stock) to see if there is any difference.....seams to me modern diesel engine are all in the same boat... opcorn:
waytogo he he.... i wouldnt complain to much about that price... a factory clutch for my cummins is 1200.00 with NO FLYWHEEL!!...... if i want an aftermarket clutch im looking at 1400. for a crate Cummins 600/610 you are looknig at an EASY 10k with NO ACESSORIES!! they prices they have are good. slap an brand new 24 valve older cummins in any rig and BOMB the heck out of it and it can make just as much if not more power without replacing new, already installed acessories from a factory engine. some day my blaer will have a cummins with twins in it.... maybe a 4bt to keep weight down a bit....
