Which modern diesel engine is the lightest?

    Anyone know the actual weights of the Cummins, Duramax, 7.3, and 6.0?

    With two less cylinders the Cummins should be the lightest.

    Cummins is the heaviest and lightest is most likely the Dmax. Due to the aluminum heads, I'd say it's a safe bet saying it's the lightest. The 6.0 is lighter than the 7.3, but I think both are still heavier than the Dmax.

    Inline 6 cylinders are heavy because the block has to have xtra material to make it rigid because it is so long. A Jeep/AMC 258cid I-6 weighs about as much as a small block.

    I agree, but I'm wondering if someone knows where to find actual weights.

    I beleive a Fully dressed Cummins ways out at about 1150 pounds . The 7.3 is nearly a 1000 not sure on the 6.0 or the d-max
