Long story short, my dad built this trailer about 20 years ago in 24 HOURS. Yeah, non stop welding and cutting from a pile of steel to a trailer hooked to the truck.imp: My dad couldn't afford to keep his manufacturing shop during a bad divorce and put some of his equipment on this trailer, parked it, and he/we forgot about it for 10 years halfway buried in a pumagranite tree... So then we drug it out of that tree and headed to the ranch with it.... I backed it up into the shop and 24hrs later I had it as good as new! (yeah, I'm lieing. Took me 2 weeks of evenings )
Man, does that ever look good! Just goes to show that they don't make them like they used to. How much does it weigh? I am guessing that it is rated for around 18,000 lbs. Is that right?
Triple 6K Dexters. It weighs about 4200lbs. I weighed the complete rig yesterday on my scale and weighed 11,080lbs and I know my Ram weighs about 6900lbs depending on fuel.
I like all that you did to the trailer. LED lights, new deck boards, and paint. On one of the pictures it looks like you may have done a bit of electrical work in the way of a new plug in. Is this right? Looks like you even did a lot of work to the deck boards. They don't look like pressure treated boards to me. They look like you stained them and then clear coated them as well. Sure looks great!!!:bling: :bling:
I used a BEHR weather proofing outdoor stain that is normally used for fences and decks. Two coats of that stuff and then I polyurethaned over the top of that for a second layer of protection and for a glossy wet look. The two black stripes are there because I actually left a small 2" strip of the old deck in along the rail. I got red paint all over it and just decided to paint it black and mask off a stripe on the other side to match. Actually came out looking good. I've hauled a couple of small loads with it so far, and I hate actually having to set something on the deck.rotfl I lay 4x4's down and set the load on top of them, that helps. All clear LED's, and all I did was just change the plug from a 6 way to modern 7 way.
What is the plug on the back of the Trailer for? Some sort of power outlet? Anyway, looks Great, I need to get one, yours looks like something i would do, and not want to scratch!waytogo
The plug is to run the lights of a second trailer behind the goose. If you look at the other pictures of the back of the trailer then you will see the reciever.
Do you need your double/triple endorsement? :doah: Sorry, I couldn't resist. Anyway, whats the purpose (besides the obvious). Didn't know you could legally pull two trailers like that. Definately looks good to me. Scott
some states you can with no special requirements other than the first trailer HAS to be a 5er or goose, other states you cant at all, other states you can, but have to have a class A.. yeah, why can not not standardize soem laws...
