What should the lift pump pressure be on a 2004 CTD?

Anyone got specs or info for pressures during the following conditions:

    Idle

    WOT

    Moderate acceleration

    Cruising

I tested mine the other day and need to find out how my lift pump is doing compared to what it SHOULD be doing.

According to All-Data it should be 58psi plus or minus 2 PSI.

    Uh...58psi...you sure?

I thought I had heard somewhere around 10psi. If it is 58 psi mine is practically dead then.

That's what I thought. But I just looked it up again and it says 58+-2PSI

The 2004 is a common rail, fuel pressure is much higher.

10psi would be at WOT on 98-02 5.9.

    That is understood.

I'm not questioning the INJECTION pump pressure (somewhere around the 23,000psi level for HPCR). I'm talking about the lift pump pressure. I'd venture to say that the lift pump pressures between a 2nd gen and 3rd gen are probably pretty darn close to each other...but that's getting off subject.

I'm merely trying to find out what an "acceptable" lift pump pressure is for an '04. I hooked up a test gauge the other day and observed about 6-7psi at idle, about 5-5.5 while cruising and about 4-5 at WFO. All these readings came with the TST on 4/4 and were taken off the test port in the cap of the fuel filter housing (using a Geno's garage billet fuel filter cap). They seem a bit low to me but I just want to see what anyone else is running and what the general "consensus" is out there.

Let me clarify, I'm pretty sure 1999GMC is correct on the 58 +/- 2 psi on the LIFT pump pressure. The lift pump fuel pressures your reporting sound very low.

    2cents

Not that it helps but my 99 shows about 10-11 at idle and 6-7 at WOT Thats not what you were asking but Woods is right on about that one. This is the stock pump and 90000 mi

BARBASTARD, what did you end up doing with your fuel pressure?

Haven't done anything yet. Although I do anticipate getting a GDP walbro lift pump within the next 3-4 weeks.

I'll post up the results and maybe some pics of the install once I go that route. The truck honestly drives fine right now but it does concern me that the pressure is low. I have however done more research on TDR and elsewhere and I have yet to find anything that tells me the pressure should be anywhere near 58psi for the lift pump.

I just looked on All-Data and for a 2003 it says 9.5 PSI minimun. 2004 says 58 +- 2PSI and 2005 says fuel pump/gear 80PSI-180PSI, and injection pump is 4351-23,206 PSI. So it has changed a lot in the last few years.

Maybe some of the early 04's had some of the 03 engines? I even looked up both 5.9L's for 04. There is a VIN 6 and a VIN C, they both had the same fuel pressure rating.
