I just traded my 98 for a 2001 ram. It's a 24 valve 5 speed that is stock right now. When I start it in the mornings it blows big white smoke and runs really rough for a minute. Once it runs for a minute it's ok for the rest of the day. Anyone have any suggestions?
Mine does the same thing, when its cold outside. Doesn't sound unusual. If its below 20 degrees, I cycle the key twice before starting. Not so bad then.
try plugging in the truck at night so when you go to start it up in the morning its already warmed up
white smoke It has only been getting down in the high 20's at night. As far as the grid heater I'm pretty sure it's ok because when I start down the road with lights on it dimms the lights when it cycles. What would be the easiest way to check the head gasket? I have a big line kit and draw staw with a holley blue to put on as soon as possible. Just had back surgery 4 weeks ago.
next step I changed the fuel filter and hooked up a fuel pressure gauge. The fuel pressure never went below 8psi. Maybe injectors?
