For anyone out there considering a chip for a VP-44 truck, I would highly recommend an edge module; either the comp or the juice / attitude if you don't want to buy analog gauges. I have only been running it in level 3 (to avoid trashing my stock clutch) and it still gives a very nice power gain. Thanks a lot to Jason at www.dieselmotorsports.com for great prices on the parts, as well as awesome customer service waytogo .
Yes unfortunately... I ordered the stealth plate but when I tried to remove the VP-44 cover, the screws were too tight for me to loosen. I didn't want to strip the screws out so I ended up just using the wire tap that came from edge. So if anybody needs a stealth plate, I have an extra On the bright side though, the wire tap is not as 'sketchy' as I thought it would be. Once you get the clip all clamped down on the wire it is actually pretty solid so I am not worried about it failing at all.
Yeah, I read the problems with the wire tap but my Juice came with a revised style connecter that seems very reliable.
If you want a the BD Stealth Plate that I bought I will sell it to you for cheap. PM me if you are interested.
Lack of built in guaging for one. When the Comp came out, it was a "bells and whistles" unti, but just look at what is available these days.... Pretty much all the higher powered units, like the comp, now come with monitors that carry full instrumentation and safety features. Regardless, it's the same programming as the Juice module, a unit that is considered a new "up to date" product. It's pretty darned hard to find a box that can build more strait up HP on a dyno than a Comp... Only the TST comp, Redline Box, and the new Adrenaline come to mind that can beat up on the good 'ol comp, but at 2 to 3 times the price!
Yeah "no frills" implies it is just the performance box and that's it; no gauges, safety features, turbo timer or anything. This is why you NEED gauges if you buy one.
It replaces the stock cover of your VP, allowing you to tap the pump wire without actually touching the wire and voiding its warranty or showing the dealer you have done sowaytogo
well son of a beeitch, i wish i would have known of this steath plate b4 i tapped into my injection pump line, If i could do it again i would def buy that plate!
I can get a pic of mine tommorrow......the truck is not where I am right now. Stealth cover IMO the best way to tap the IP hands down.
BD has a picture of a stealth plate installed on a VP-44 in the stealth plate instructions on their website.
Nice pics! I guess I should have been more specific on no frills, but seem like you guys get the picture. If you can't offload that Stealth Plate call me, we'll work something out for ya.
