Our last mileage thread has become quite dated, going back to pre-ULSD fuel IIRC....

Just did quick road trip with about 200 round trip miles. I got 19.04mpg with 80% freeway/20% intown. Optimal conditions, 70*, flat ground, and moderate breeze.

With 155K on the clock and heavy tires, I felt pretty happy.

Post up your recent mileage numbers!

Since I got my truck about a month ago, I have recorded all of my fuel mileage numbers and taken an average:

Average (3 tanks) mix of city & highway: 17.95 mpg

Also, I took a small roadtrip this last weekend. I drove from LA to Visalia and back down. I topped off with fuel right before I left and re-topped off right when I got there. With the cruise control set at 65mph the whole way I got 23.31 mpg.

By the way, all of these numbers are hand calculated... I wouldn't trust the trip computer haha.

Last time I checked. 19.9mpg @ 70 mph running empty. 10-13mpg towing @ 70mpg, tow a camper so the wind is a big factor. 285 tires with 3.54 gears.

I believe they are the 3.55 gears and stock (265/75/16) tires.

Today I drove down to Albuquerque from Los Alamos to pick up my father. On the way back we drove trrough the Jemez Mountains and then back to Los Alamos. Basicly making a big loop. The trip down to Albuquerque was all highway and Interstate. The way back was Interstate and highway consisting of mountain roads. The whole trip I averaged 21.1 on the cave man math and that is not including the 10% that it is off for the 35" tires. Corrected comes out to 23.21 mpg. I was excited to see this number! This was done with 3.73 gears, 6 speed manual tranny, on a 06, crew cab, dually, 4x4.

Typical mileage with the 315's and 3.54's is about 16. I have seen 20 all highway keeping it under 70mph with the 315's, and as high as 23 when i was running stock 245's and keeping it under 65mph.

mine has been dropping every time I fill up to less than 16 mpg. Had the dealer do a reflash and will see if it did any good the next time I fill up.

best tank so far was 19.4 before the muffler fell off. I haven't had a decent trip since then.

Worst tank was 7.4 towing a 18k camper in a head wind. That was rough. All hand calculated...

I am about to put a programmer on my truck to see if it helps any.

I get an avergae of 9-12 MPG's empty and 9-12 loaded. For some reason my truck does not care. Averages comes from hauling about 6-7K behind the truck. It is a 2005 GMC 2500HD gasser w/4:10's Love the truck not the mileage LOL

Well I knocked the muffler off and took a 1200 mile trip. I still didn't get any better mileage. I got a smarty programmer and still didn't get any better mileage. This is on cruise control... not my fat foot.

I have come to the conclusion that I am gear bound. I can't get anything more than the same mileage regardless of what I do to the truck so far so I am going to start saving for some gears to lower the ratio and engine speed for more mileage. Mine is better than some but not as good as the automatics.

    Just thought I would share.
