I have noticed that when I start up my truck, there is a five or ten second heavy drain on the electrical system. This occurs about five or so times every 20 seconds or so. Anyone know what is drawing all this power?
It is a 2009, 6.7l Cummins Mega Cab. I seems like there is some type of heating element that clicks in and really pulls a lot of power, then cycles off and it goes back to normal.
Well, after three DPF failures in three weeks, I decided not to chance a fourth. After the dealership replaced the DPF again and the EGR, I replace the Mega Cab for a low mileage 2010 Ram 2500 Crew Cab. I guess we'll never know what was causing the truck's issues. Hopefully the next Owner doesn't end up with a lemon.
