Well BB05 is sneeking up around the corner. I have pretty much exhausted my funds on a bunch of stuff for the K5. There is No Way I am driving it to Moab. I have a 05' QC Dodge 2500 CTD short bed. Could I flat tow the K5 with this setup? I know it wears out the tires and all, but if I can't get a trailer or borrow one in time it seems that is my only option.

I know a guy who flat tows his Suburban with a Motorhome. (Dean) he was at BB04' last year. I am pretty sure the added wheel base and weight of his monster MH helps.

Can I do it? What would I have to do to the K5 to tow it? Remove driveshafts? Have Xfer case in Nuetral?

How much does a towbar run for the front?

    Thanks guys!

I am curious to know this answer as well. I was about to post the same question on ck5.

I am getting some responses on CK5, just thought I would ask here for some of the other guys who don't frequent CK5, if they do in fact exist :D

You can flat-tow about nything with driveshafts. Some bvehicles you need to disconnect them, not sure about your K5. I would disconnect them from the axles, tie them up to the frame with something and go with a Towbar. Obviously you're doing the right thing asking around, but I seriously don't see a problem with flat towing, other than that the towed vehicle usually needs to be street legal, or at least LOOK street legal. :D

As far as cost, you could get the towbar and some little pizza-cutter tires on steel wheels and be in it for far less than a trailer would cost, and not have to worr about wearing those big expensive tires. For that matter, even if you tow on the big expensive tires, you could afford to replace them 2 or 3 times before you even approach the cost of a trailer.

Plus, storing a towbar is much easier than storing a flatbed. waytogo
