Unless the engine is setup to run a true Jake brake, you wont be able to add on. What you are refering to is most likely an exhaust brake (compression brake) rather than a true engine brake. If so, they are relatively easy to install, but can cost upwards of 1000 dollars for a decent unit.
Ditto. I don't think there is an actual engine brake that is being made for the ISB cummins engines. The exhaust brakes work almost as well though anyway. The only thing with the engine brakes that is nice is you can choose how many cylinders you want to brake. Most big motors (like the ISX, N14) have a toggle for just two cylinders, four, and all six cylinders. That would be really nice to be able to only use say 4 cylinders. I find my dad's exhaust brake to be a little to strong sometimes when unloaded. My dad has a Jake Brake on his 2002 H.0. 6 spd. A Jacobs Brand exhaust brake. If it's a manual truck that you have, no it won't effect your warranty. I don't know about auto trucks. I have never installed one before but they don't look really difficult. Most brands are anywhere from $750-1000.
