I'm getting a 1993 Chevy C30 crewcab dually with no motor (was 6.5 TD) and a 1990 Cummins (non-intercooled). Looking for info on what it will take to swap into my new truck, anyone that has done this with some insite?
I'm sure you can get an adapter to mate the cummins to the 4L80E, that would be a nice combo but will probably need a few upgrades to it if you plan on making a fair amount of power. The 4L80 handles a 6.5TD fine but might struggle a little with a Cummins making 300HP/600ft lbs or so, The Dodge autos do and I'msure a 4L80 isn't any stronger than 47RH/E. Guages and fuel lines would be easy since it's already a diesel truck. Just coming up with motor mounts and making a cooling system work sounds like the hardest part. I would use an aluminum radiator out of a 1999 and newer Dodge Cummins, they are HUGE.
Oh, I forgot to mention it has an NV4500 in it already, probably would need to get a Dodge Cummins bellhousing and input on the NV4500... Dodge clutch and flywheel... the cummins has a 727 behind it right now but I won't be using it.
As much as that body styles front clip slops I would guess you will need a body lift or a cowl induction hood. Probably beefier front springs as well. Would be a sweet combo for as many trips as you take. If you want to look at a conversion(it is a ford) when you're out this way you can take a look at mine.
Well that makes thing easier. Stomper made a good point about needing a body lift or cowl hood. I have heard you could also notch the firewall. I would disagree on the springs, probably will make it ride like a caddi. imp:

i have a 1994 chevy k2500 that id like to put a cummins in but its a gas 5 speed wonder if theres a kit to keeep the tranny in mine and put an old 12 valve in it
