All my life. I was born and raised around a trucking business and farm. Gas engines were the minority.
Depends on how you define "been into". I've owned a few over the years, but never really "been into" it until I got the DMax in '02...
"been into" will mean different things to different people, you must find what that means to you my glow plug friend and fondle it with your every moment of existence. :doah: I have no idea what I just said.
Ive been into them since I decided in my head that I was going to buy one.. so about January of 04. I didn't buy till June of 04, but Im still loving every minute of it.. even at $3.00/gallon for fuel Scott
When I realized if you want to tow a big ass heavy Blazer you are going to want a Diesel. So for about 1 year when my K5 started down the track of no street legality return imp:
imp: Well yours is a lot bigger than mine with those 40's on there, mine would look small compared to yours K5 that is
for about 2 years or so. since I drove a friends 7.3 ps with a TTS chip and then he told me that he averaged 15mpg in his CC DRW 4x4 F-350 with 36" mudders. And that is "averaged" with towing 14k lb trailers and having a habit of smokey burnouts After that I knew it was only a matter of time until I would get a Diesel of my own.
I had always wanted one, and subsequently some of the first vehicles i looked at when i turned 16 were diesels. I got talked out of getting one, and bought a gasser instead. Drove that Truck for a while until i needed a tow rig/DD, so i bought my diesel K5, and ive had it for about 2 years now. Currently looking for an IDI ford van for a possible replacement for it.
I have always considered diesels to be top choice for durability but I started looking at the light duty market in 1993-4 when Ford introduced the Power Stroke version of the 7.3 . At that time it was the stoutest motor put in a light duty truck and I was way impressed. Tom
about 30 years,,, I started working on diesel refrigeration (Thermo King ) in the late 70's,, Rebuilt hundreds of Mercedes Benz and Isuszu 4 bangers and 2-3 cylinder Yanmars and 1 cylinder Onan's Those 1 hole Onans were tough,,1 lunger with a 50 lb flywheel and a starter that was big enough to start a V-8 !!! diesel has been in my blood a long time,,,,
A little over 35 years When my boys started driving they each asked for one of my Diesel collection, I gave them each one, but I told them they couldn't sell them until after I was gone One wanted my '68 El Camino, the other wanted our '80 IH Scout. They're "into" Diesels so much they both are Cummins mechanics, waytogo
