I just went in yesterday to Fleet to start my order for a 2005 F250 PSD. I knew that I might be running close to the limit to when they stop taking new orders and I was right. The 05s are no longer an option. So it looks like I'll be ordering a 2006 instead. They couldn't give me pricing yet since the new 06 database hasn't been loaded yet (as of yesterday, 4/1). I've looked online and found the Ford 2006 Ordering Guide but can't find any pictures of what a 2006 looks like. I know that technically there aren't any body changes but they always do something to differentiate the model years. What will it be for 06? Anyone know? I did see that they are now offering the "Chrome Package" which has all of the bling stuff like billet grill, chrome exhaust tips, chrome tow hooks, etc. Also this year you can get your bling 20s for your "truck". To each his own I guess but if you want all of that stuff just go get an Escalade. I'm ordering mine with the XL package so I can even dump the existing chrome. The only downside to that is that Ford won't let me get the power group option (locks, windows) for the XL unless I have a fleet ID. They say I have to bump the order to the XLT (for an extra $5K or so) if I want those options. So I guess I'll do without. So if anyone has pics of what the 06 looks like or has any pricing for the 06 post up a link. Ford doesn't have their website updated yet. Thanks.
That's always bugged me about Ford. More than any other brand (in my experience) they have this, "You can't get this without that" attitude that never fails to tick me off. I was looking at a Ford truck years ago and liked the 2-tone paint, but you couldn't get that without "Lariat" trim, and you couldn't get Lariat without Leather and the other stuff I specifically didn't like. Basically I wanted an XLT trim but 2 tone, and was even willing to consider Lariat minus Leather. But their attitude was totally, "Arbitrary Package A, or Arbitrary Package B, take it or leave it."
Honda is the king of "if you want this, you get that." Most of their vehicles don't even have options. When I bought my '04 Civic, it had no options. You get DX, EX or Si, and they come with what they come with. Interior color is even based on exterior color, no choices.
