I'm finally starting to notice better fuel mileage on the highway. In the last 2 weeks I've done 2 empty road trips totalling 925 miles and burned 56 gallons of diesel, when calculated comes out to 16.5 (not too far off the overhead showing 16.2 the first time I reset it and and 17.2 the second time) That's a combination of about 75% 75mph interstate, 20% 65-70mph 2-lane travel and 5% in-town travel. That's much better than the 11-13 I was getting earlier in the truck's break-in period.

I'm at 13,000 now and hopefully it'll get even better as I approach 20 and 30k miles.

The drastic increase in mileage seems to have not been gradual either, rather triggered by a 1200 mile round-trip earlier this summer while fully loaded with my slide-in camper, my new flatbed trailer, the heavy crew-cab K10, spare tire, tools, and a weeks worth of camping supplies, water and extra fuel. I'm guessing around 19,500#. The trip was through the rocky mountains, across 6 big passes and dozens of smaller hills that climb a couple hundred feet. This trip really REALLY worked that Cummins hard. I'm wondering if perhaps that extensive workout finally broke the engine in good & hard triggering the drastic increase in mileage?

Thanks for listening to me babble :pimp:
