My engine light popped on and the truck acted like it was running out of fuel. I let out of the throttle and got back on it. It sputtered along with little power. It then caught up and took off again only to start missing shortly after.Italso is idling rough. Truck is bone stock other than cat back straight pipe. Any thoughts?

How long has it been since you changed your fuel filter? Also check for water in the fuel.

Filter changed last 7k miles or so. I drained fuel bowl for a few(clean/no water) Problem came on instantly, no warning of any possible problems. Truck has been performing 100% until it acted up today. I buy fuel from the same place. Fuel level at 1/4-3/8. It came as though flipping a switch. I don't see any smoking conditions either. I called local serv. dept. and they alluded to a possible re-programing? Im wondering if it will even limp 40 miles to dealer? Truck info: 3500 4x4 auto. trans. Cummins of course.

I would try changing the filter again just to eliminate it. I got a bad filter one time. It came apart inside the housing.

I'll try a new filter. I disconected the batteries for a couple of hours. Re-connected and it cranked and engine had little reaction to throttle input. What reaction i did get was rough. It then evened out and ran well. Test drive down the street and it seems fine. Check engine light still on though. I tried to retrieve codes by key switch. It flashed 10 times in a row then back to solid. What's up?
