I am going to larger tires, 285/75R16 or 17. I need help with the rim size, what do you guys think of 16 vs 17 rims? is one more stable than the other? Can I still get an E rated tire in a 17? I'm leaning towards BFG's but The terra grapplers are still in the running.

17" seems to be the industry standard now, in fact Dodge, and Ford I believe, come with 17" as standard, GM is the only one that still puts 16's on their trucks. Yes, you can get E rated in a 17", thats what I run as well.

yes you can get e rated in 17 terra graplers cost me 800.00--- 305/70/17 that was at cost from wholesale. no dealer markup. the 16 in are definatley cheaper and if I were putting new wheels on that is the way I would go.

I like my money so less expensive is nice but I'm willing to pay for stability and handling, if the 16's in a 285/75 are going to handle ok then I will stick with the 16's

you will be fine with 16's Make sure that whatever tire you go with that the load rating is higher than what your stock tires are at (iirc 3042lbs per tire which nets you your 6084lb RAGWR)

16's are just as good as the 17's.
