Has anyone gone to 19.5 rims on an 06-07 dually 4X4? I am considering it, but was told I would need to lift the truck. Lift is not an option due to tounge height on the trailers I haul. Thanks for any input Darin
19.5's and 225-70-19.5 tires is just as closee to stock height as one will get. but they look kind of silly on a dually. one is running around town here. he was looking at how my 265's fill the wheel well. on a 4x4 a 265-70-19.5 will fit with very little to no rub issues. then there is a 245 as well. with the 6 speed in your truck the 245's or 265's would be a good choice. on my 2wd they rub a bit, but its no big deal. i could level the front of the truck, but it looks nice the way it sits. I think the 19.5's look great on a dually. It makes it look like an F450 or 550 with their 19.5" Alcoas. I'd use the 225's with the 19.5's. 22.5" rims on 245's and 265's just looks completely out of place IMHO. It's a pickup, not a Peterbilt. 19.5's are perfect IMHO, they look heavy duty, but not cheese ball like 22-24" truck rims.
I have a customer here with 19.5's with 245 series tires on his 07 Mega cab Dually. I have yet to see it, I'll snap some pics when I do. I do have a customer with 22.5's on a megacab dually lifted 4.5" and it looks absolutely insane! Good enough that Diesel Power did a full photo shoot on it while we were in Tulare this weekend.
oh, the reason i say the 225's look silly is the fact that they are thinner than the rims. 245's look good, 265's look awesome. 265's are 34.5 inches tall. Grant
what about wear mileage? I am really looking at this for monetary reasons first, cosmetics second. would love to see pics. Darin
well, i have them on for 8 months now... i have CHEAP tires and they wear NICE. i need to rotate them, as the frot look brand new still and due to the burnouts and hard driving the rears are about 55% balancing has been an issue, but its mostly due to the cheap tire deal. i have some dyna beads, but no place to put them in. SHOULD take care of the problem. im not going to rotate the tires, because i need better traction tires in the rear as the ones i have now are "steer" tires and have NO wet traction at all. i put about 30k miles on them. if i was nicer to them then they would last for a very long time. towing: NICE!! day and night difference. love it. will never go back. empty: rides a bit rough, BUT i keep them at 100lbs of air... you COULD drop them down to about 50 front and 30 rear, but you would risk blowing a bead i THINK. not sure. its a truck, supposed to ride a bit rough... this would be VERY nice as i dont think brentz or ricksons AL rims are DOT certified... :doah: alcoas would be, and i am sure a higher weight rating as well....
