19.5'2 on a trailer

    the smalest 19.5 inch tire i can find has the same dimensons as my current 16 inch tires that are on the trailer. i was wondering that if i get 6 SRW 19.5 rims 7 and 8 for spares, i could take the weight rating up a decent amount on the trailer. i know the axles can take more weight and the trailer is overbuilt at my request. i dont know of any 19.5 inch trailer tires though. would a 19.5 inch truck tire be worthy?

    any input would be good. im currently away from home and wireless on base here is in and out. might be a bit before i responde. thanks.

    I have no idea. It sounds good on paper but you are already pushing the limits of your tow-rig. anymore weight capacity will be pushing your luck

    my tow rig, once dually will only be pushed on paper. i town now and wish i had dually but need a short box. i will be going dually in the next year or two. i only have one long tow and a couple 20 or 30 mile tows to do before i havea place and everything comes off the trailer. then i will have a place to work on everything and all will be well. i plan on 19.5 inch dually on the truck with an aluminum or home built light weigh flat bed. im thinking on the second option as i can tube everything out and make it as lighweight as needed yet structural enough to help spread the load over the frame. will be a bit harder to do this with the no welding limited drilling deal of the hydro form frame.

    the trucks brakes will be upgraded at the same time, but with the trailer being 3 braking axles and the exhaust brake i have NEVER had a problem with emergency stops and have had to make a few of them. i had plenty of room to spare. with the air bags as well the load is carried nicely.

    thanks for the concern and i see your point, but all points have been taken into consideration. i will be re-registering the truck for 36,001 lbs as well. that is just down the road a bit. have to work a few other kinks out before i can do that.

    belive me, my next tow rig will be a FL4700 or F750 with air brakes and a larger transmission.

    19.5 trailer tires

    you can get custom built 19.5 rims from a company call Rickson in Maryland i think there web site is rickson.com I haul very heavy (35,000 to 42,500 Gvw) with my ford and dodge and 40 foot gooseneck trailers. I just bought 17.5 tires and rims for one of my tailers and i use them as singles insted of dully 236/85/16 (save on tolls) the rims are dexter 6.75 x 17.5 and are rated 6200#s they cost me $106 at redneck trailers the tires are 235/75/17.5 load range J 18 ply they are rated @ 6005 #s single i paid $160 for them at my local tire supplier. They wear like iron. I also run electric over hydrolic over brakes on my heavy tailers thry stop real good.
