I am needing new tires for my Dmax and wondering if 285s will clear on a stock 2500, the front looks a bit tight with the 265s, so I hate to buy a tire and have it not work. Also are there any other issues, I know the newer they get the more sensors and crap there is to worry about, and I guess I don't worry too much about that, but if someone has heard of problems tires have caused post that up too.

Assuming your stock size is 265-75-16, a 285-75-16 would be 1.18'' taller for a total height of 32.83'' vs 31.65'' for the stock tire.

So, assuming you have 1.18'' of clearance at full lock, you will be fine.

Just make sure you buy load range E.

Sounds good, it might take some minor trimming on my inner fender, it looks pretty tight, but not a major deal.
and yes, other than being 17" rims you are correct on the stock tire size.

The 285's will fit. I have a fella here at work who has done the same thing. I think he had to trim the leading edge of the plastic under the bumper. He has a 2006 3/4 ton, extra cab, short bed with the D-max. I just noticed that I am talking about the previous generation of truck. Man, I am an idiot.

I can only relate that on my '99 K2500 Chevy, I had to raise the front end to clear when going from 265's to 285's...And these were on 16" wheels...Ben

The key is stock backspacing and width, not diameter.

    285's should fit.

Who makes 285 AT's in load range E?
