Anyone actually own one yet? Anyone have any miles on one yet? Contemplating taking the leap and ordering a 3500 4x4 QC SWB ST with the 6.7/ 6 speed combo and am beginning my research. Basically a plain jane work truck with the Cummins. Not worried about bombing, etc., just overall reliability, etc. No power mods would be added until after warranty. That gives me five years to worry about that stuff.

The emissions stuff worries me, like it does most of you. I'm assuming that with time, fixes will come to most of that stuff from the aftermarket. I just don't want a bunch of trouble in the meantime.

Thinking out loud, Is it even a remote possiblility that with a large amount of work a mechanical injection pump/ injectors/ etc. could be installed down the road if I were to have issues with the computer, etc? Or that some of the emissions crap be eliminated? Namely, the particulate filter?

How is the new Getrag 6-speed holding up? I see the 6.7 is derated from 650 to 610 with it, that irritates me a little. Could a friendly dealer reflash the computer to give me the higher rating?

Long term, after warranty, I don't plan on doing any major bombing, just airflow and computer mods to give me a decent boost in power and mileage. And a stronger clutch. The usual, I guess. I'm not going to be doing any racing or sled-pulling, just DD'ing and towing.

Just looking for some real experience, not some internet hype about how crappy the new diesels are. The truck I want is not very easy to find used, and if I'm going to spend 25K+ on a truck I want it to be new. Thought I'd post here before I head over to TDR.

    Thanks...

I don't have the manual but, the 68RFE auto trans and love it. 2500 miles now, and a consistant 17.8 mpg. Now, towing 3 times, heavy, this dropped to 11. No problems with anything to include the new DPF emission systems..

Yea, I have a 6.7 6 speed manual 3.73 crew drw 4000 miles. Runs real strong no problems to date with any of the new emissions stuff. Towed 10k lbs. for about 1000 of those miles. I treat it just as if it were my old truck, I let it idle, I lug it with a load, I figure if its gonna break, it's gonna break under warranty. So far so good. Top gear is a little low running empty but with something behind you it feels just right. 16mpg mixed towing and empty, I can see getting 20mpg empty highway if you keep your speed down. I haven't seen this kind of mileage yet but don't think it's impossible.

This truck has some big shoes to fill. My old truck 97 F350 psd. auto 4.10 with a Banks Powerpack and 210k miles never gave me the least bit of problems.

For the record the dodge pulls just as strong if not a little better than my Bombed Ford. This could be due to the Ford being an auto.

Hey guys, I just recieved my 07.5 6.7-6-speed 2500.I waited 10 weeks for a factory order truck to my specifications.I started with st package and built from there.I included rear limited slip, skid plates, bright front grill and some other minor stuff. The truck is awsome. The transmission does like to shift at certain rpm range depending on grade,speed...etc.The truck is confortable and quiet. As far as the emissions, Dodge had EGR back in 1998.The fact that it has the EGR the EGT's will be lower. It also has coolant cooled turbo, that also should help.I have no plans for upgrades,The engine is just that strong.I have spent 25 years in the auto/truck world as a technician.I chose the dodge because of bang for the buck. The fords engines I just do not trust except for the 7.3.The Chevy is far to spendy and they too have had some minor problems.
Hope this is of some help waytogo JOHN T LIPPOLD
    Hey guys,
just returned from a trip with my family and 24' travel trailer, dog ,bikes etc...... The truck is awsome.pulled some nice sierra grades @ 70mph in sixth gear.Did not even phase the truck !!!!!!!!.I even checked my mirrors to see if it was still there.15mpg seems to be the average.I only have 1900 miles on the odometer.May be I need a bigger trailer !!!

I now have just over 10000 km on mine. No problems at all. I'm sure you can forget ever making one a mechanical injection and unless you are a computer chip wizz, you won't remove any of the emissions stuff and get it to run properly. I'm only geting about 15mpg at best and that's almost entirely empty. I have pretty aggressive tires on it (still waiting for aluminum wheels to mount summer tires on) so that's not helping. I'm a hardnosed stick shift guy but with the power this 6.7 makes I honestly think you could better utilize the power with the automatic and it would appear, get better fuel economy too. Had I known when I ordered mine that the transmission was made by a divisoin of Toyota, I would have been a lot less afraid of the auto 6spd.

that would be a good trick since they're only made with egr and all the rest. What makes you think its a 6.7 and not a 5.9?

Ah... now I gotcha. When you said yard mule you weren't talking about a stripped down Dodge pickup. No doubt the engine will work without the emissions stuff but getting the factory on-road electronics to still run the engine without all the emissions sensors would be something else. If just about any of the bizillion sensors goes south or AWOL the computer will go into limp mode. Then say goodbye to most of those 300+ horses. Like I said, a genious could probably figure it out but he's probably already working for one of the after market chip manufacturers.

Here we go. The whole point of this is that it has its own ECM. it might be possible to use that ECM and eliminate EGR or use both engine and ECM. It is rated at a higher power level too. The only point I am trying to make is that it can be done. It wouldn't be cost effecient but the product is out there.
