i was wondering what my options are of swaping a dually rear end adn springs onto my f250 3/4 ton pickup. i really wnat to put a 1 ton rear end on it with a flat bed and i have seen a ram 2500 with the same set up...any suggestions about rear end gears and what is and isn't do-able?

should be able to do that. i dont see why that would be a problem except maybe moveing shock mount locations and a few other small things

Just check the tag on the rear end it will tell you the ratio.

well have you ever heard of anyone doing this before. i think it won't be a problem with the diff and the drive shaft or anything i am mostly worried about the gearing and the spring mounts.

Heck no how do you think alot of four wheel drives that started out as half tons end up with one axles.

but i mean, correct me if i am wrong but the f-250 and f-350 share the same transmission, engine, and driveshaft so if i were to jsut swap out the diff and axle and whole rear end with an old f-350 dually, i mean i jsut don't see hwo it could go wrong.but then again i am not a mechanic.

    What year is your truck?

I'm going to be doing the same here in the next few months. I've got a 1999 srw F350 CC and a 1999 F350 CC Dually. Gonna swap the axles, I'll let you know if I run into any issues.

well i have been talking to a ford mechanic, apperantly it won't be a big deal, shock mounts are the same and also the fram engine, and drive train are all the same the only issue is making sure that the gear ratio in the front is the sam as whats in the rear other wise once you shift into four wheel drive your going to loose an axle or blow somthing up... but yeah please tell me ow it goes. and if you run across any shocks or whole rear ends please tell me i would be willing to buy them off of you. but mine is a 99 f250

Guys as soon I get this swap started I'll be sure to post up what I'll have left. The dually was a base model cc but the SRW is a lariat. Thats why I'm swapping axles. I need a dually. Parts that I know I'll have extra will be Front clips (going 06), set of SRW 1tons 3.73s, whole dually chassis, both beds, manual tranny and tcase, maybe one 7.3 with 200xxx (not sure if I'm gonna keep it), and tons of little stuff. Shocks from both will be for sale.

    Sorry for the hijack dude.
