hey guys. i was checking out the DTT website and i came across this thread... http://www.dieseltrans.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=473
Hmm, very interesting. I know my Aunts brother had his 48RE fail after 22K miles, 21.5K of those were with a trailer behind it. It was covered under warantee for him, but the tech said it was a $15 part that failed, and they replaced the whole trans for him. They said it was a fluke, one of the first they had seen. Whether its true or not, or even the same problem for that matter i dont know, but i know he didnt really care because the dealer took care of him when his trans did fail, they even lent him another truck so he could still make his week long trip while they fixed his.
Hmm. I don't understand why the manufacturer dos some of the stuff they do. I've heard to cut small costs here and there but I'd think it would cost more fixing transmissions under warranty than using a slightly more expensive part in the first place.
