i just got done installing my EGT in my (pretty much) stock 6.5L .. and was wondering what a good running temp is .. i have a kennedy diesel cross pipe, custom cold air intake (if it effects egt?), and straight pipe 2 3/4" exhaust, and im running stock boost level ... i took it around the country mile and when i would get past 2K rpm it was getting close to 1100º but then at 55 in 5th it was around 5-600º and then at idle it was around 400º .. does this sound right?

hopefully tomorrow i will get my boost guage so i can actually find out how much boost im running .. set the controller low so i wouldnt blow something up ...... 8lbs sucks!

EGT's sound high compared to mine. I idle arround ~300, if i let it sit for long periods i drop to nearly 200. Motor is bassically stock except for the 4" exhaust, 3" downpipe and the intake. I have yet to stand on the throttle long enough to get even much past 950*, and the only way for me to hit that is when merging uphill onto the interstate, running about 2500 RPM, and boost at all of 6 pounds thanks to the ECM. It will get to 900 fast, but after that the temps slow down alot. Cruising down the interstate at 70 mph gives me 550-600*.

yeah i oopsed .. prior numbers arent completely correct according to today's drive .. from 55-75 in 5th gear (1500-2000rpm) rises to 900º (may go higher but i hate reving my truck out) then at idle it is around 300º(after about 20seconds) and regular driving is around 4-500º

my probe is right at the top of the cross pipe on the driver side (right after manifold)

My probe is post turbo (just above the connection to the downpipe in the turbo housing), and I run 500-600 cruising empty, and 700-800 cruising loaded, and will go as high as my left foot will allow up hills. I try to keep it no higher then 1000, though.
