Have a 1999 3/4 ton 7.3 powerstroke, replaced fuel pump, fuel filter, drained fuel filter -water sperator, stalls after running it for 10-20 minutes, if you let it sit for a while it will restart but stalls again. Any ideas, also has 200,000 miles. Thanks

the parts store where i borrow code reader is a demo, they had to send it back to the factory to have it updated. Be next week before they get it back. Could it be cam shaft sensor? My friends code reader showed normal but its cheap one so i don't trust it. The parts store is a pricy unit. Thanks

could be cam sensor or IPR problem to start with.
need to monitor RPM while cranking with it dead, and IPR percentage and ICP pressure while cranking, and also B+

hows the oil look? Did you do an oil change when you serviced the fuel system? I've heard of them stalling when they get hot if you have the wrong oil in them as your injection pump operates off oil pressre.

on a powerstroke the oil even if it gets contaminated and nasty it will only cause it to run bad, be low on power and have a bad idle.

what happens is it aireates, and this causes the problem, but the injectors only need 500psi to run, and the pumps capible of 2400, so it will usually always start.

sounds like the cam positioning sensor, good luck getting to it you'll need a pry bar and a set of metric wrenches

Check on ebay for cam sensor. Got one for a buddy of mine for like $65. Brand new in Ford packaging. I think his ebay name was crabmaster. They are over $200 from dealer.

if it is your cam sensor sounds like it thought try napa or hendersons they'll have it about 70 bucks . tkae about one hour tops to change out not really hard to change right on the front of the motor down by the harmonic balancer even has a timming poit on it. If I remember right it a 10mm socket and a long screw drive to pry it out

A PSD will not crank with low oil also. It will also cut out or stall while driving if you get on it hard and the oil level isn't correct or the right velocity (old or cold).

    Ask me how I know.

My early 99 would do that. I threw 2 CPS' at it thinking it was that. Turned out the my PCM was fried. Got that replaced and life was golden again.

For $55 I would get two, but I dont trust Ebay too much. If he has a good reputation I may take the chance, for that price.

I have bought from him several times with no complaints.Same exact part as I would have paid more than double for at ford.
