I bought a 89 C2500 ext cab chevy (no payments!). It shows 125000 miles on it. I just ordered 24,000 gvw trans cooler, remote trans filter and temp gauge.

I was wandering what else I need to do to help the truck survive??

It has a 5.7L and I believe a 700r4 (it has overdrive). Don't know what gears yet (will be changing gear oil in couple of days so I'll know then.)

    Thanks,
    Jason

What do you plan on towing with it?

 Thats a lot of weight for a 700r4, keep an eye on the tranny temp, thats it's biggest killer. I used to make deliveries in an old 20 foot C-60 that had a 350 but it also had a manual tranny, it did it, but it wasn't fast.

I don't know how many miles the current trannie has on it, and I pretty much expect it to die sooner than later. When it starts to show signs of dieing I plan on looking into a bowtie overdrives stage 2 or something similer.
I have read some good reviews of their work.
