Yes, and from what I understand the AFE flows a little more air so might as well get the best. Just wondering about the noise level.

I've heard that the AFE is a louder setup, but it might be different with a 3rd gen. I didn't think the airbox noise was much of an issue with 3rd gens since it's further forward than 2nd gens, but I don't know.

I have a Stage II Magnum Force, I don't know what the difference is. (magnum force or proguard) It was on the truck when I purchased it. You can definitely hear it sucking air, but if it's louder than stock, I don't have the answer. Sorry

Yes it is louder. If you leave the silencer ring in the turbo it's not too bad but with it out it's a jet engine... I really like it though, when the truck is idling you can hear the turbo and it sounds pretty nice. When running down the highway you can hear the turbo it's not like it keeps you from having a conversation though and I love hearing that thing spoolup when towing up a grade.

Mine is the pro-guard stage II with torque tube. The torque tube is supposedly what makes it loud. If you get just the filter it won't be near as bad but you don't get the gains either.

It's loud to where you can hear the turbo. Not too bad till you go over 10 psi, then it sounds like a jet powering up ;)
On the other hand, it's quieter than my 5" exhaust.

I have a 2005 Ram 3500 4x4, QQ/LB (single rear wheels), with AFE Stage II with PG7, Banks technicooler/highram system (includes the larger tubes and cac hoses), Edge Hot juice with Attitude, and Magnaflow stainless 5" single exhaust. The rest of the drivetrain is fairly stock for now, but have PML diff cover, ATS deep tranny pan, tripple A-piller gauge pod with ATS gauges (Boost, EGT, Trans temp.)

I believe the AFE Stage II that I have is the same that is used on the 2006 model. I have a friend with a 2006 MegaCab with the AFE and they look the same. He is also running the Edge Juice/attitude, but it is different than the 2005 version. The 2006 has a different wiring harness, and the new Juice/Attitude for the 2006 has some extra features my 2005 dosen't have like engine/turbo shut down timmer and trans temp monitor.

Anyhow, I think my converter is about shot so I am looking to replace it and upgrade the trans at the same time. I'd like to keep the trans cost under $3,000 if possable.

Well, I'll be at the Bandimere Speedway Awards Dinner on Friday.
Anyone else going to be there?

Rob (therobzilla) has the Scotty II on his 99. He cut the 4" hole in the firewall for more flow and it is definilty louder when the turbo spools up. It isn't terrible but you do notice it.
