I need to get a gooseneck trailer and really want a dual tandem. The trailer is rated at 25,000# and not sure what my F250 is rated at but just the trailer is over the limit, meaning I would need a CDL for the gvw of the trailer alone. Does anyone here know of anyway to get around this CDL deal, maybe with a farm tag? This would be for personal use, not for hire, any ideas? I don't know the exact regulations for Alabama. Thanks, stucky

If it is for personal use only, you should be ok. at least that is how it works as far as Fed DOT goes. They are only concerned about contract (for hire) carriers, and private (hauling your own goods for compensation) carriers

Unless it iss farm related then you get a-whole-nother set of rules and they are alot more tolerant in that department.

I used to work in South AL the guy that I worked for had a tag on hhis 1 tons that were apportioned . he called it a XX or XXX tag you may want to look into it.

Apportioned registration is for registering in multiple states for commercial use. You don't want to do this for a personal use trailer.
