I'm new to this site and new to Diesel and some new guy questions. How many miles are on your diesels that are getting 18 to 20? And what do you have done? I just bought a 2007 F250 with the 6.0 and so far my milage sucks. I've been averaging about 12 to 15. I do do a lot of in town driving. It also seems that with my trailer lightly loaded, I get better milage. Just seemed that way. This is my first diesel and I love it! I'm just trying not to get discouraged by the fuel prices and the milage. All of that is worth it though when something needs moved :D Thanks for any info ya'll have. I'll post up some pics soon. Thanks.

mine has 15,000 and i will get 17.5 in traffic . 18-19 regular ol drivin, and 22-23 traveling cross country. our trucks are only a year apart. mine is a manual though. depends on fuel, location, and everything else you can think of, lol.

In town mileage thats about right. SRW 3.73 highway no trailer 20mpg is about right. Change that to DRW 4.10 and highway is 15mpg. Both trucks with trailer can get 10mpg: 3.73 at 75mph and 4.10 at 65mpg. Add on open air intake (stock is best overall) and 4" turbo back pipes you might get another 1mpg...

Have ya'll heard of a "turbine muffler" for our trucks that looks like the Aero mufflers or whatever they're called? It is a very small rounded looking muffler that the local exhaust shop claims 4 to 5 mpg gains. For $160 installed. On the muffler box it shows it was tested on a 2002 Ford F250. Just curious. For that price might be worth a shot. If it's true it would pay for itself in a few tanks. My truck has about 900 miles on it right now and I'm trying to not get frustrated with the "break in" gas milage. Also, what are your thoughts on a Cetane booster? Good/bad for milage? Thanks a lot so far for your help, keep it coming. I need to get schooled. Thanks.

    Gas mileage

reddragon4x4, see my signature for goodies added. I went from 12 in town to 14.5 mpg in town and from 17.0 to 17.5 mpg hwy. rotfl Pretty expensive to get 2-3 mpg. But it's worth it when you blow the doors off of a young tuner! 8,000 lbs is a lot of vehicle to get moving, mileage suffers. Have fun and drive it like there may not be a tomorrow!waytogo

I had been looking at the bully dog power pup, but would that void my factory warranty? Either way, the power is great! I love the low end torque, way better than gas! Just need the fuel milage. But it looks like maybe the fuel milage is a neccessary evil. Yeah, I beat a F150 on the highway the other day. He was being a idiot and doing the whole speed up past you, then slow down and let you pass, then speed up past you and slow down and let you pass. I finally got tired of it and floored it and my god! The turbo started spooling up for about a second or so and the tach jumped up to like 3 grand or so and I went from 55 to 80 in (what seemed like) instantly! We both had our windows down and you could hear the turbo whinnin' under the hood. The look on the guys face was priceless :D With that said, the milage is worth it..... sometimes. And I guess the more I drive it the better it will get.

yeah, unless you have a great dealership to work with you , the power adders will void your warranty. if that doesnt matter to you then go for it.waytogo
