Read the other thread about the no bus code and it sounded alot like my problems, but went to replace my crank position sensor and it is not where the service manual says it is supost to be. Just a block off plate. Is it possible the late 01 trucks this was moved or eleminated to just use the cam position sensor?

Update. Called my local Cummins dealer, Dodge dealer, and the Cummins tech line they all told me it "should" be behind the starter and just in front of the dip stick tube. Which it is not there. Only after calling Davis Diesel in Spokane WA., (my local diesel speed shop) did I find out that 01 is a split production year and that some late 01's only use the CMP (cam position sensor) no CKP (crank position sensor). Hope this can help some one.
