maybe its just me, but the original turbo started barking and blowing oil at 77000 miles and by 91000 miles it was horrible....smoking real bad constant turbo bark and burning oil through it....so finally the dealers agrees with me and fixes it.....1 week to fix cause the turbo was on nantional back order.....well last weekend making a run turbo#2 starts barking everytime i let off the throttle, 8000 miles and allready going bad....take it back to dealer and they do visual inspection and sure enough the bearings have tons of play....so they replaced it with turbo#3...so far 1000 miles and good....they had to a complete computer upgrade for the new turbo the tech told me cause dodge is having tons of turbo problems, and the ecm or pcm upgrade is supose to help the turbo do something ????but when installing the upgrade i lost my high idle feature....i just want to know how many of you guys out there are having turbo issues?? i now have a 100000 miles as of today, so maybe a larger intercooler would help the sad turbo???
I think I'd be looking at a new aftermarket turbo and ditch the stocker if I had any more trouble. Just out of curiosity, do you allow the truck to sit and idle after you drive it to allow the turbo to cool before shutting it down?
all the time....at least 1-2 minutes after long, hard driving.....just today the new turbo started dumping oil somewhere from the turbo area all over the engine compartment, so back to the dealer again!!!! i have had the truck in the dealership for 22 days since nov for b.s. repairs, and the guys(techs) are confused about whats going on....the truck has put a hurting on my business to where i have to might find a new career....dodge wont even help me what so ever on a fair trade for a new one, its just bad!!!!! hell i have had more problems then guys that i work with that own ps 6.0 trucks....i have no choice but to keep it cause i am so upside down in it, but i will upgrade the intercooler, and turbo in time when i got the funds....i have told the dealer all the time that the egts are always around 1200-1400 going up grades pulling only 10k....ohhh thats normal for the new cummins, they say....any help would be great guys, thanks....
My rig has about 87k miles on it and I've noticed that it is starting to leak some oil from the bottom of the turbo housing. As far as performance goes it appears to be fine. EGT's are right where they should be, even while towing, and boost pressures are fine. What is this turbo "bark" you are talking about?
