I was on an airplane earlier this week and i saw that banks has a new cold air intake out with a scoop on it.........any reviews? does this thing work

also what would be your personal top 3 air intakes.......im reaaaaly impressed with the icebox's looks but is it the best performance wise? i mean looks are nice but it is under the hood

in other words if im gonna spend the cheese i want the best intake i can get

When I first started looking at a cold air intake (CAI) I started to read what others had put on their trucks by reading Diesel Power Magazine. At that time most were running an AFE stage II intake. That is what I run to this day. I have also seen the Banks kit and have seen that they offer the scoop separate if you so choose. I have often pondered ordering just the scoop and placing it under the front valance of my rig and using it as sort of a poor mans air scoop and directing it to my AFE intake. As far as Banks products go I have always thought that they were a little over priced for the performance you get out of them. Just my .02.

i have always thought the same......the other thing that im not too thrilled about is the icebox intakes take 3 to 4 weeks to get to you

3 to 4 weeks is the not the average, it is more like 1 1/2 weeks with your choice of colors. Also the warranty cant be beat!! Lifetime even if you wreck your truck end the box is damaged! You will get a new Icebox. Best of all they are made in thr U.S.A by lazy americans {as we have been called by other countrys}waytogo.

I have the AFE Stage II w/ the Pro-Dry filter on my 01. Noticed a bit of improvement in throttle response but not much else... don't be fooled, just in intake will not give you power gains you can really feel like a chip would.

Anyways... I really like my AFE intake. The main benefits I have noticed would be the re-usable filter, the looks under the hood, and the awesome sound waytogo

I think that I remember someone winning an Ice Box here on this forum. For the life of me I can't remember who it was but, if I remember correctly, they loved it. I don't think that you can go wrong with any CAI, that being said I think that it will boil down to personal prefrence. But, you will need to remember, 4054x4 has it, yes, you may experience some benefit from one. You may also experience some mileage gain with one, and, it is, perhaps, the very first modification you should do to your Diesel. Some would say exhaust but, I don't see why you could not start with an intake. But, I should also warn you, Diesel modifications are kind of like a misqeioto byte. Once you start to get the itch, you keep on scratching!

    oh trust me i know

unfortunately i have the jeep upgrade misquito bite too

i have an 88 yj that i got pretty much bone stock but with a 4 inch lift and i added

a winch, gears, 1ton axles, full roll cage, suspension seats, 5 pt harness, a t18 transmission, lockers front and rear, rock sliders, sprung it over the axle, revolver shackles, z boxes..............you get the picture haha

also on my mega cab i have added a triple dog programmer, straight through 4" exhaust, tranny pan, sound system, and im in the market for gauges, air intake manifold, CAI, then depending on how bad my wallet hurts i might install a water meth kit with a giant tank mounted in a toolbox burnout

I also have a play rig. I own an 85 Dodge Ramcharger. 5" lift springs from Superlift, front Dana 60, Detroit, 5.13's rear Corp 14 bolt, 5.13's spool, Mopar crate 360, new TF 727. We go to Moab about twice a year to play. This last time out I was able to finish Moab Rim, and Potato Salad Hill. Pritchett Canyon and I are 0 and 2. Darned trail just has my number.

I live in Northern New Mexico. I have yet to travel that far to go wheeling. I have seen it on Superlift TV and the like. That is a whole different kind of wheeling than what I am used to. The park looks like a great place to wheel.

I have a 03 with the Banks intake. I went from about 16 mpg (not pulling) to 23 when I keep my foot out of it (about 19-20 hot rodding around). I feel I have gotten my monies worth. Maybe it was a little more but I'll pay for something that fits and works. I also add the air scoop and I can feel the extra prower.

I installed the Banks intake and a Banks 4" exhust alone with the cool air. With all the above I have improved fuel milage and more torque. I tow a 36 ft 5th wheel appx 14000 lbs and I have no prblems pulling up the longest mountin climbs. I may not be the 1st 1 there but I'm the 1 that will make it with the most fuel left over.
