Not yet, was looking for some personnel experience with it. But I will, being I have his VB/TC. Thanks
Well if my trans was auto I would definitely put BD's exhaust brake on it as I've heard nothing but good about that unit. I would expect their PressureLoc to be of the same high quality.
Do you still have an issue with shudder? The Pressure Loc is designed to boost line pressure about 30% over stock at light throttle. Most aftermarket VBs, including Dave's increase the line pressure as well as the ramp up speed. Dave's VB should be ramping line pressure up faster than a stocker. Now, if you are going to use an exhaust brake then yes, the extra line pressure to hold lock up would definently be benifitial.
No issue with shudder, just looking to tighten up the converter a bit more when towing the camper. Not getting an exhaust brake, don't have billet shafts for the trans. Dave was against an exhuast brake without atleast a billet input shaft. Haven't had time to ask Dave about the pressure loc. Thanks Woods
The Pressure Loc will not effect your converter's "tightness." The Fluid Coupling Efficiency of the converter is based on the converter design, and the only way to tighten it up, or make it more efficient is to cut it apart and install different parts, like the impeller and stator. The Pressure Loc is designed to ramp up Line pressure and Throttle Valve pressure faster and help hold it at higher levels with less throttle input to help clutches hold better. See, at a low throttle input, the TV valve doesn't advance the Throttle Valve pressure and line pressure very much. The Pressure Loc will manually advance the TV lever, thus advancing TV pressure and line pressure. This is every important when running and exhaust brake because typically you use the brake at idle throttle, so the motor will slow the truck. This is the point when the TV pressure is lowest, and by adding the Pressure Loc, you are able to ramp those pressures up to maintain transmission performance with such low throttle input. Ok, now I understand. Once I get out of 1st gear (with a load), the truck takes off. Think I will double check the TV cable adjustment for the heck of it. I have 285 tires with 3.54 gears and wish I had a little more gear like 3.73. Really don't want to downsize the tires, truck gets off the road as much as it tows. Hope this makes sense.
