Has anyone had a K&N drop in filter and switched to a BHAF? Any improvements (egt, mpg, cool down time) after the BHAF install?

Oiled filters don't really filter that well. Another option would be to run an AMSOIL dry Nanofiber drop in air filter. They flow better than stock drop-ins, are resuable, filter better, and require no oiling. To clean, just blow out with compressed air.

There are also performance cone Nanofiber filters: Nanofiber cones

Info on the filtration technology: Donaldson Nanofiber

I just ordered an AFE Stage 2 Intake with a dry filter element. I will let you know how I like it.

The K&N doesn't bother me, several trucks with 600K+ miles running around here without a problem using a K&N drop in. I'm just wondering if a bigger filter would help the egts or cool down any. Towing my camper up these ozark hills with 3.54 gears and 285 tires. I would like to keep it in OD without having to drop a gear to get the egts down. It doesn't have a big problem right now, but I'm looking at bigger injectors. Want a little more than the 40hp I have now.

When I had my '02 I ran a drop in for awhile, didnt notice any power or mileage gains and that was all empty hwy driving, I swapped it out for the BHAF andthe turbo came alive and there was 2-3 mpg better. That was the second pickup I had run a drop in replacement and wasnt impressed.

Just installed my AFE Stage 2 Intake with the 'Pro Dry' filter. I noticed that there is a bit more responsiveness as well as a bit more top end power. Also, it makes the turbo sound awesome and the intake looks really cool under the hoodwaytogo .

Well I have been busy. Ordered one from www.fleetfilter.com last week. Much cheaper than any parts store I went to, waiting for it to show up. I'll post up the difference once its on.

Well the rain stopped and I had a few minutes before leaving for work to install the bhaf. Took me less than 10 minutes. For now, its just the filter, no outerwear. First thing I noticed was how much faster the truck would build boost. My running down the road (empty) egts seemed about 50-75 degrees cooler. And when I went to shut it down, I could literaly watch the guage move, cooled off much faster. I'll report back when I have a chance to hook a trailer behind it. So far I'm liking it. waytogo

    Fleetguard AH19037.

Also consider the AMSOIL Nanofiber eaau4510 for this application.

Towed the camper and the egts were much slower coming up and I didn't have to drop out of OD because it ran much cooler! Worth the $86 (bhaf & outwears). waytogo
