hello and thanks for reading i hope you can help or have had this concern before. any how i am a ford tech professionaly and have worked on plenty of ford diesels maybe i should have stuck to what i know best lol. any how i had a freind bring a buddy of his over and his truck was running rough and had a pinging noise. i had looked it over and diag it as a bad injector the truck i am working on is a 2004.5 ram3500 4x4 with the 325hp engine. any how i explaned that i had no codes and it seemed like injector 1 was the fault could feel a pulsation in the fuel line. so he requested that we replace all 6 fuel injectors and he would pay i said ok no big deal i order 6 new cummins recon injectors from cummins and installed into vehicle i looked up the tech info from alldata pro. so that i would not screw anything up. after all was installed and tested truck ran smooth and great during the road test it stalled and now i have a truck that will start and run for a few min after it runs aprox 5mins it will shut down seems to stall after warming up. but all is connected have no codes but do get a code for common rail pressuer sum? any help i would greatly appreciate it and thanks for reading..

I'd be leaning toward a weak/ dead lift pump, or with that code you have , a failed CP3 perhaps.

To the best of my knowledge I would also say that you have a fuel pump problem somewhere. Do you have access to a fuel pressue guage, or is there one installed in the truck? A fuel filter problem would not show any codes (that I know of). The second generation Dodges did have a few problems with lift pumps and when they failed the fuel pump would fail shortly after. I don't know of any other fuel problems on the third generation Dodges.

04.5 should still have the lift pump mounted to the filter housing. Check lift pump pressure, sometimes it will throw a fuel delivery code. Hook up your scanner when you start the truck and verify rail pressure. You should be in the 6800-7200 psi range on the that truck. Next, do you get any white smoke? After it stalls can you restart it?

yesterday i hooked up my scaner and was running the truck and monitor fuel pressuer and found that the truck at 2500rpm is putting out 12000 psi and at idle was at 7 or 8 thousand and while truck was running fuel pressuer started droping i have found that at idle the pressuer droped to 2169psi and stalled the engine. and the lift pump pid says pressue hi and when key is off psi low so i think i may have a bad cp3 pump or one thing that just came to mind was i did not bleed the fuel sys i was not informed that this was needed and maybe fingers crossed this is my prob god i hope lol. so one more thing outa you cool cats out there ever bled a common rail sys any tips, ideas i know that you cant just crack open a line cause it will chop your fingers off from the pressuer. i really appreciate all the help you all have givin me and just remember if you have a ford i can really help you out. by the way im thinking its better to pay some one that knows your car best lol. my dodge is gonna go to cummins for any engine repair after this roflmao.... well thanks again guys
