Im looking into getting a 7x16 or 8x16 cargo trailer for everday hauling of my tools. Anyone have any specific things to look for, brand to or not to buy, which size is btter for towing daily on city streets, type of suspension to look for, and all the little stuff i should look for

    TIA

I like to go with tandem axle trailers for stability and higher gvw. I recommend the trailer have electric brakes as well. Make sure the tires have the proper weight rating( usually E rated. If you are buying used make sure to grease the wheel bearings before using. The bigger trailers are generally easier to maneuver when backin up. Good luck with you buy.

I have pulled a Pace with torsion bar suspension - pulls very smooth compared to a leaf spring suspension. That one was a tandem axle. My brother in laws Pace with a single axle was loaded well under max weight, and the floor collapsed. My Dad's Kiefer Built is a good trailer - it is 6x6x16 tandem axle - it is 12 years old now, and is beginning to have some rust problems - all fixable. I don't have much experience with many others. I agree on the tandem axles being more stable, as well as smoother ride for the contents - torsion bar suspension is smoother yet. Electric brakes are a must. If you have the other kind - I have turned into a goober, and cannot remember what they are called - on the tongue, you will not be able to add a weight distributing hitch, which will make the ride better yet for you and the load. Longer trailers are easier to backup. This seems like a lot - my .03 I guess.
