Amsoil Severe Gear 75W-90. You will love yourself for it. I did. I sell it because I use the stuff. Check my sig for more info.

Ditto, in nearly every case people report a little less noise and smoother engagement of reverse and 1st with the Amsoil Syncromesh in the NV5600's.

Your NV5600 uses Syncromesh 5W-30 trans oil. It holds 5 quarts. Your Rear end would need about a gallon of 75W-140. DO you have a posi?

5 quarts of Synchromesh, $38.50 plus tax.

4 quarts of Severe Gear 75W-140, $52.40 plus tax

The gear oil would be cheaper if you prefer 75W-90 and or you don't have a posi and it's an open rear end.

K, i found out how much "Extra" the new cover i ordered adds. it will be just over 5 Qts, so have to buy 6.

as for the 7 quarts of fluid in the NV5600... when i change the fluid i will be installing my fast coolers...

looks like my 140 dollar guestimate wasnt too far off once shipping is added in...... :doah:

as for posi, yes i have it but the factory does not required addatives for the AAM center section....

are you saying that I need the 75\140 if I have the posi? and do I still need to use a posi addative?

So the FAST coolers bump you up two quarts capacity?

As far as the rear end, it holds about a gallon according to Amsoil's database.

75W-90 if you don't tow heavy, 75W-140 if you are pulling heavy loads.

Apparently you don't need an additive for your rear end regardless of the type of differential.

Severe gear is fairly more pricey than Long life version, mainly because of extra additives, an additive for posi units being one of them.

1 quart per side, i am doing both since i dont have plans any time soon for PTO.

i tow HEAVY and if im not towing my right foot thinks its a race car... my brain knows its nothing of the sort... but they dont talk well together.... so the 140 weight is for me.

and the cost of 140... well, it isnt... :doah:
